A British-Ghanaian Romantic Luxury Ibiza Wedding | Ana Lui Photography

Bringing you some Spanish sunshine today!

Meet Pronovias bride Sarah and stylish groom Louis who decided to have a destination wedding.

Handsome Louis, of British Ghanaian heritage proposed to fellow Brit Sarah of Roman Catholic faith, at Sandals in Barbados, where he dropped to one knee during a candlelit dinner on the beach. (AND might I smuggly add – Mr Nu Bride and I were there – we had the pleasure of celebrating a mutual Dear friends wedding when we spotted Sarah looking teary eyed in the reception area with a rather delicious diamond on her finger and were able to capture a little moment and have a toast with them afterwards. Such a beautiful setting for a proposal!)

Cheeky pap post moment in Barbados

After an intimate registry office wedding in the UK, the pair flew to Ibiza with friends and family for to enjoy their main celebration, a balmy outdoor ceremony under the palm trees, followed by poolside cocktails and a vibey reception (with added ‘sax’ appeal, thanks to a performance by Lovely Laura). They celebrated again with a reception back in the UK, at Brands Hatch Place Hotel & Spa.

Today I have the pleasure of sharing their romantic Ibiza celebration with their nearest and dearest captured by the beautifully talented Ana Lui

Coming Together

Our wedding theme was quite romantic, floral and relaxed. It had a Ibiza vibe and musician Lovely Laura completely brought it alive!

I had no trouble finding inspiration, thanks to Etsy and Pinterest –  they were very helpful!

We chose Ana Lui as our photographer. I would highly recommend her for an Ibiza wedding – she was so warm, friendly and professional, and the images are breathtaking! (Nu Bride: AGREED!)

Gorgeous Film captured our day on film. They were excellent, friendly, and amazing throughout the day

We also want to mention Katia van den Broek, the Events and Commercial Director at Atzaró, acted as our wedding planner, and was fantastic at providing the contacts for the photographers, cake, DJs, etc, much-needed when planning a destination wedding. On the day she made everything run smoothly and was extremely efficient.

The Dress

I went to three bridal shops before I found my dress and the last one, a stunning Pronovias dress at Mirror Mirror. They were absolutely excellent. I ended up going for a dress I thought I would never wear, (Nu Bride: sounds about right!) but it was a ‘wow’ dress.

The Suit

Louis picked his stylish suit from Ted Baker  a perfect light blue tone for our summer wedding.

The Ceremony

Our first ceremony in the UK was just with close family at the UK registry office. It was lovely weather, and we enjoyed the outside grounds at Bromley Civic Centre, followed by a meal at Chapter One.

For our Ibiza wedding at Atzaró, our  “aisle” was a swimming pool, with orange blossom trees and cabanas near a bubble bar, and a LOVE sign at the end of the pool. (Nu Bride: STUNNING!)

After the ceremony, which was very spiritual, we had canapés and drinks by the bubble bar with our friends, whilst popping off to take the odd photo.

The Reception

For our Ibiza wedding, the location itself didn’t need decorating; it was already stunning, with beautiful flowers, pools, cabanas, it was the perfect backdrop for us.

My favourite moment was letting my hair down when Lovely Laura was playing her saxophone. The speeches and after party also definitely captured some of the funniest moments.

Our first dance was to Ellie Goulding’s ‘How Long Will I Love You?’. I hated this moment the most, with everyone staring at us shuffling around! (Nu Bride: NOOOO! – not to you reading – if you don’t want to do a first dance  – DON’T  –  your wedding your day.)

Challenges and Triumphs

Our biggest challenge was just keeping everyone involved and happy. (Nu Bride: Oh the politics of planning a wedding)
