Well this wedding is rather special.
I met gorgeous bride, Junia during my professional dancing days (many moons ago) and it is such a pleasure and a privilege to be able to share her wedding to her charming husband Jason with you today.
Meet the very beautiful Marchesca bride Junia of Chinese-Indonesian heritage and handsome Canadian groom, Jason.
Junia and Jason had a beautiful, heartfelt garden ceremony with so many heartwarming moments including their gorgeous little baby boy Jett ‘walking’ his Dad down the aisle! The backdrop was The White Rabbit in Dempsey Hill, Singapore, followed by an intimate and fun-filled reception with close friends and family.
The fresh neutral floral palette and delicate rustic inspired finishing touches to add the beautiful backdrop of their outdoor ceremony is just stunning, captured with incredible images by destination photographers Bloc Memoire
We would highly recommended our photographers Bloc Memoire. They are a lovely young husband-wife couple who were a pleasure to work with and have a very natural, current style of photography. Junia & Jason
I was 28 weeks pregnant and had been in hospital for about a month after having surgery.
I was on bed rest and not allowed home leave. But that Saturday my Doctor said I could go home for the day as I had been recovering well. Little did I know Jason had organised with the Doctor to allow me home leave, so that he could propose.
It was exactly one year after our first date. As I wasn’t mobile and had to move around in a wheelchair we just had a BBQ on our balcony that evening for dinner and that was when he proposed.
It was a total surprise and completely unexpected!
Our proposal for the wedding was that we wanted a boho/rustic theme with an element of fun and intimacy.
During the planning stages I was open to ideas. My wedding planner was brilliant and was on the same page as me. We were friends in school so she knew exactly what I wanted!
Finding a wedding dress that fit was a real challenge!! I was pregnant when we first started planning, we had less than 6 months to plan it. I had my mum as a body double to try on wedding dresses for me. The one I ended up getting did NOT fit post baby, and I ended up getting a dress online 2 days before the wedding (Nu Bride: oh my gosh, palpitations right here Junia!)… And it fit perfectly. But I swear I gained some white hair on my head from the stress during the process!
We wanted close friends and family there and a relaxed, playful feel to the evening. Having close friends and family from all over the world come together to celebrate with us was so memorable.
Family was a big thing for us, it was important to include close family members in the ceremony.
Our ceremony was so personal and we had Jason’s father conduct our ceremony for us.
Jason and baby Jett walking down the aisle together was by far one of my favourite moments. Although I didn’t get to see it, I know how happy and proud that made Jason feel.
We also a surprise song from Tommy Francis, had desperately been trying to book him but it wasn’t working out. My wedding planner pulled some strings and managed to book him behind my back in secret and after the ceremony he appeared in the crowd and broke out into “All You Need is Love”. Great surprise as he’s a good friend and so it was extra special!
The White Rabbit restaurant was cleverly converted from a beautiful chapel and was the backdrop for our reception.
To honour our boho / rustic inspiration we had a naked cake with our initials etched into it to mimic a wood carving. Can we just say that naked wedding cakes are one of the best wedding inventions to date!
The funniest moment of our wedding day for me, was definitely pumping breast milk every couple of hours behind a screen with my maid of honour holding up a sheet to cover me. (Nu Bride: LOL! Now that’s a maid of honour!)
For our first dance we chose ‘At Last’, by Etta James.
This is a tip that our wedding planner gave us:
Take a few minutes during the event to just be together and be present because there’s so much going on and so many people who want to speak to you that it’s easy to forget about being in the moment and being with each other. And to take those few minutes to appreciate everyone being there for you and each other because the day will go in a blink of the eye.
Nu Bride: Stunning advice and so, so true! Thank you for sharing your incredibly beautiful wedding with Nu Bride. HUGE Congratulations to you both!
