What comes to mind when you hear the word tradition? Boring? Uncreative? Obligatory? It doesn’t have to be any of that. When planning a wedding, […]
I had the pleasure of visiting White Gallery London last week during bridal fashion week in London, to get an exclusive snoop from some of the leading UK and international designers 2018 collections which hit boutiques later this year.
White Gallery introduces both new and unknown designers as well as those big house brand names we all adore. Like a child in a sweet shop, I was in my element and I have put together some of the hottest finds for the fashion forward bride to inspire you.
I was lucky to have wonderful photographer Cecelina photography (who used to be a London Fashion Week Photographer – lucky me!) in tow to capture some behind the scenes footage for me and some of the designs in all their glory..
Pssst. Don’t forget you can catch up and see behind the scenes action and the day of a life of a wedding blogger at fashion week – if you want to see some live catwalk action:
I had some personal highlights before any of the catwalk shows had even started, one was discovering US-based designer, Jenny Yoo
As well as her bridal collection, Jenny Yoo stole the show with her elegant, feminine and fashion forward bridesmaids options for modern ladies. With an eclectic palette to die for. Her stand was buzzing throughout most of the day so I didn’t manage to get the opportunity to speak to her personally, but her team were a delight and talking me through the designs popularity. So incredibly stylish and elegant.
Designer Donna Lee instantly had me at hello because she had consciously chosen to showcase her design using a gorgeous curvy model (who it turns out was none other than the wonderful curve Ambassador Nina Blakemore). Something I have NEVER seen at White Gallery in the 5 years I have been visiting, it was a real breath of fresh air. Donna, Nina and I spoke at length about desirability, about the perception of bridal beauty, about making dresses for real women. About diversity in the industry and how rare it is to see it inclusively. Donna Lee is not a designer that specialises in plus-sized brides, she is a designer that simply creates and understands the female body and wants to not only create, but showcase designs on a multitude of body types, so that any bride, regardless of her size, can walk into boutiques and simply try on a dress. She also told me about a new campaign she created to highlight and encourage more inclusive bridalwear – showcasing one of her classic lace fishtail designs, on two different body shapes. Same dress, different sizes. Just as gorgeous. Loved it!
LOVED meeting Nina Blakemore!
Chic and Sexy
This ridiculously chic and sexy bridal playsuit by polish designer Slywie Kopczyńska made to stop and stand to attention and instantly had me at hello. The perfect opportunity for confident ladies who love shoes to show of their footwear on their wedding day and their legs!
This was by far one of my favourites from Charlotte Balbiers’ 2018 collection aptly named Bohemian Blush. We are still seeing trends for ladies who want to add colour to their wedding fashion and boy does beautiful pistachio green and pink masterpiece offer that. It reminded me of a beautiful confident peacock and the colours are delicious on so many skin tones.
The current collection called SIREN from London designer Sabina Motasem, inspired by modern-day muses. The the quality of the luxurious fabrics she uses on each of her designs are utterly delicious. Clean modern lines, simplicity and elegance at the core her new 2018 collection. Sublime.
Show off your shoes with Sassi Holford and Alan Hannah
I definitely saw some themes on the catwalk to encourage ladies to show of their shoes, this cute classic off the shoulder v-neck from Sassi Holford demonstrates this modern take on a bridal classic perfectly.
This frill and fanciful design featuring a sexy side split delight from innovative designers; Alan Hannah creates another perfect opportunity to show off those pins and designer shoes and add some flamenco sass to your wedding day.
Glitz and Glamour
Photography: White Gallery London
Eliza Jane Howell hand-beaded and embellished designs never disappoints, always full of theatrics, glamour, style, fluidity and the juxtaposed with the elegance of the 1920’s!
You cannot go wrong with a sexy back.
During your ceremony most of your guests will be looking at your back for up to an hour, make sure it looks darn good. This elegant and sexy lace applique plunging back from Sassi Holford is simply to die for.
As ever there were multiple showstopper from leading designer Sassi Holford rocking the catwalk. These three had me jumping out of my seat!
Big bows, slender silhouettes, monochrome, clean lines, low backs and sexy pant suits. Just YES! Something for every modern bride.
So there you have it! Feast your eyes on those! A big thank you to Cecelina Photography for being my date for the day and capturing such beautiful images to share with you all!
