Taking you across the pond to the USA to share a rather chic and glamorous real wedding.
Captured by The Burks Photography, Stylish Christopher and a supremely elegant Danae married on 29th May 2015. They held their Geat Gatsby inspired wedding at The Big Chill in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Chris in his dashing Vera Wang tux and Danae in a beautiful Theia Couture gown are a sight to behold. The champagne and soft pink theme and elegant finishing touches, add a chic touch of glitz and glamour
Over to the happy newly wed Danae who delightedly shares the details of their beautiful day.
I had no idea! (Nu Bride: That’s what I like to hear!)
My parents said they wanted to go out to eat to celebrate something for me. I can’t remember, but I think I had an interview and it went well. The week before we got engaged, my mom and I went to go see Justin Timberlake. I asked if she wanted to get her nails done with me, but she brushed me off. The next week she asked to go with me before dinner, and said I should get a bright colour. (Should have been a light-bulb moment). We left the nail shop and drove to the Brazilian restaurant, and walked to the back to a private room.(yum)
As we turn the corner, the waitress asks we were here to see Darryl and Chris. That’s when I thought to myself, why did she say Chris’ name. We get into the room and he’s there, without my siblings and I automatically think something is going on. My parents leave and say we should enjoy our private dinner and before we order Chris gets down on one knee and asks if I would marry him.
I was immediately elated and started nodding my head, yes. Then I saw the ring, it was the one I had fallen in love with. The ring that he told me was too expensive! I was completely surprised, we celebrated the entire weekend. (Nu Bride: Fantastic!)
We hired Stacey Evans at Sophisticated Ethereal Designs to plan our wedding, with the theme of The Great Gatsby. We both love the book and the movie. We wanted our wedding to be loosely based on the style and glamour of parties back then, so we didn’t have difficulty finding inspiration for our wedding at all.
We booked The Burks Photography (Heather and Walter) to photograph our wedding. We would absolutely recommend them. They were a delight to work with for both engagement and wedding photos.
My favourite moment of the day was walking down the aisle and seeing my future husband smiling from ear to ear.
For our first dance, we chose You & I by John Legend sung live by Patrick Pate.
The funniest moment was when we had to take our final picture, but we weren’t leaving the wedding. We just drove around the parking lot while everyone got back to the party.
Challenges and Triumphs
We didn’t have challenges as our coordinator had everything under control.
One Tip for other couples
Take time to take it all in, and enjoy every moment.
