Hello Gorgeous one! I am so chuffed to let you know I have been shortlisted for another Wedding Blog Award!
Hasn’t this year has flown by! Sometimes I wish life would slow down just for a moment so I can take a beat, stop for a while and breathe it all in.
It was almost a year ago I was swept off my feet when I was unexpectedly crowned with 2014 Wedding Magazine’s Wedding Blog award for Best Big Day Inspiration as recognition for some of the work Nu Bride has been doing to encourage and inspire a more visually inclusive mainstream industry by representing lots of gorgeous diverse couples. (You can catch up on the frolics here! )
Last week I thrilled to find out I have been shortlisted for another wedding blog award and once again in the 2015 Best Big Day Inspiration category! Eek – I’m going to have to try to defend my title. lol!
Nu Bride has always been more than a wedding blog, but a platform to educate, validate and champion being inclusive.
Since the 2014 Wedding Blog Awards, it’s been a really busy and really humbling year. Some fantastic suppliers have been working closely with, or have simply been inspired by Nu Bride’s little quest, after I hosted an event to ask some of my favourite industry colleagues to take the lead and help fly the flag for celebrating diversity. And my goodness are they flying that flag!
To name a mere few:
Ian Stuart Bride has been absolutely rocking the catwalk this year with Runway Rebel his new 2016 collection, using gorgeous diverse models. Also eloquently addressing the importance of embracing change, equal marriage, appealing to all couples regardless of race, age, gender or sexual orientation and wrote this fabulous piece for Nu Bride on wedding diversity.
Legendary Rock n Roll Bride has also acknowledged the gap and taken the bull by the horns. She also asked me to write a piece on cultural representation which pops up in their brand new issue (out now!) featuring one of the first black brides ever used on the cover of a UK magazine.
Phenomenal blog Bridal Musings was inspired to feature this epic series to address, discuss and improve the issues many couples and bloggers face seeking and sourcing varied and inclusive visual inspiration.
Fine art photographer Cecelina Photography wanted to do something to contribute to providing visual inspiration in wedding photography that appeals to quality, modern multicultural couples to go some way to reflect the cosmopolitan country we live in. She commissioned this stunning shoot with creative London Wedding Planner Always Andri, exclusively for Nu Bride.
The talented Viva La Wedding have been working like trojans for just over a year and commissioned the most epic and clever concept of shoots for Nu Bride that I have ever seen, after being inspired by this post…. I cannot wait to share, you will love it !
That’s just a few of the brilliant passionate people to go some way to inspire represent, acknowledge, validate as many of you as possible and there’s much more to come too.
To be in a position to inspire and try to make a difference in the mainstream industry and more importantly how society and our younger generation perceive bridal beauty, difference and choice, carries great challenge, great responsibility but more than anything, great privilege. Nova, Nu Bride
Thank you for your continued support. I say it all the time, but I honestly mean it, without your support, this is just too, too hard and all pretty redundant. There is lots more work to do, we can all keep growing and improve inclusivity, Nu Bride included, but I feel so positive about the industry and steps that are being taken.
I’m up against some stiff competition and not expecting to win two years in a row, (that would just be greedy guts lol), but I will certainly try my hardest to defend my title! The wonderful work and opportunity to inspire colleagues that has come out of my 2014 award has been more than I could hope for and I hope it long continues.
If you would like to vote, I would of course be touched if you would take a moment to vote for Nu Bride again and also for any of my other gorgeous colleagues and bloggers who are equally deserving. Votes are only open until Friday 11th September 5pm! So be quick!
Much love and see you soon!
