One of the things I am often asked as a not-so-newlywed, is; “if you could get married again, what would you do differently”?
Well, assuming I am marrying the same man of course, I wouldn’t change a thing. The day was everything we hoped for and more. But go on, I’ll play along just for you, you’ve twisted my arm.
If I could re-run our day, I would DEFINITELY have more thought about my wedding morning fashion choices.
I would have opted for something camera friendly and chic for me and my girls to wear whilst enjoying our morning pampers, champers, and rum punch over brekky. To have been kitted out in a bit more style, while our photographer unobtrusively captured the laughter, nerves and deliciously bubbling bundle of energy, rather than a raggedy pair of unsexy old pyjamas.
Start the day as you mean to go on!
Any talk of bridal lingerie, is mostly on automatic pilot and straight in the direction of ivory overload, wedding day undies and not an awful lot more.
So I’d like to shake it up a little, with the help of lingerie veterans; Marks & Spencer’s eclectic bridal lingerie offings.
It’s especially useful to think about your wedding morning fashion if you are having a photographer capture your ‘getting ready’ shots. This is the perfect excuse to be a little creative and think about what you want to wear.
Practically – Can you get in and out of your clothes easily without interfering with your freshly styled hair and make up?
For fun – Something fun with some colour? Use this as an opportunity to inject your chic style and personality and spruce it up a little.
To experiment, I got to try on a little M&S magic to inspire you with your wedding lingerie choices and the following items had me at hello.
I chose to don Siren from the Autograph Collection a deliciously soft satin and Italian lace camisole set. Comfortable and perfect for a laid back morning getting ready. Cute, but not too sexy for the parents!
I liked the cute little peek-a-boo key hole back and the lace details on the shorts. Gorgeous on the body too, it felt like a second skin.
LOVE these trendy cuffed hem floral lounge pants / pyjama’/s . I am seriously tempted to rock these with a pair of heels. I think it could work. Shh…Don’t tell anyone they’re pyjama’s !
Great find and only £15.00! Love this look for ladies who want to lounge in comfort and look pretty darn trendy in their images, could also work as great loungers on honeymoon too. They’re not too heavy and not too flimsy either.
I paired it up with a simple but cute cotton lace trimmed, cerise cotton vest top.
I also loved this cute two piece short pyjama set designed in conjunction with supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whitely in the gorgeous and feminine Rosie Collection. These would go down well on a laid back chic hen do, or the morning of a wedding day. Love this look.
Feeling like a change from the usual padded and underwire paraphernalia M&S have a stylish Nude Rose bralet- again from the stylish Rosie Collection for Autograph offering their take on a bralet. A fashionable vintage inspired bra with chic lace and delicate silk trims, without any sign of underwire digging into your ribs.
I haven’t worn a bra without the extra bumpf since I was about 12 years old, so I was a little skeptical at first about the lack of padding to hide behind. I paired it up with these equally stylish and ridiculously comfortable no vpl French shorts .
The verdict…..The bralet comes up a little small, so for ultimate comfort and a better fit, probably best to go up a size….Deliciously comfortable and surprisingly sexy.
Have some fun with your wedding and honeymoon lingerie and think beyond your wedding night. There are more options than ivory. Try something new, I dare you.
