Fun Loving British-Chinese Stock Brook Manor Wedding | Sam and Louise Photography

Another delicious real wedding, filled with love and laughter and general cheeky behaviour to share with you. This time from the gorgeous award-winning duo Sam and Louise Photography, who capture the raw beauty of a wedding day so brilliantly.
Meet Maggie Soterro bride: Carmen, British born-Chinese and charming groom Kachun also of Chinese heritage. Carmen and Kachun chose to have a fun-filled autumn wedding at Stock Brook Manor, in 250 acres of the gorgeous Essex countryside as their backdrop. They were keen to represent both their western and Chinese cultures in their day. (Warning: Most hilarious door games coming up! )
Photographers Sam and Louise say:
Carmen and Kachun’s day was so full of happiness and joy. From the traditional Chinese games in the morning, through to the crazy breakdancing in the evening, everything was so much about celebration of their partnership and a new journey into married life.
Over to the gorgeous bride Carmen to give you the low-down!
Coming Together
We knew from the beginning that we wanted to respect our elders and culture by incorporating parts of our Chinese traditions into our wedding day.
Nu Bride: The perfect Giddy excitement look!
We decided to include the Chinese tea ceremony (during the evening) and the Chinese wedding games (groom and ushers would complete challenges set by the bridesmaids before the groom could see the bride. This was done before we left for the venue).
Nu Bride: Great to see Carmen and Lachun incorporated some fun traditional Chinese door games into their day. The idea of door games is for Kachun to successfully completely several challenges set out by Carmen’s cheeky bridesmaids in order to prove Kachun is worthy enough to marry his love. Happy to report he passed! Especially good news since he had to eat a whole concoction of hideous things to prove his worth! And yes, they are eating out of nappies. lol!
The Ceremony
We chose to use home dried petals for our Confetti, gathered from friends and families gardens!
My favourite memory was definitely walking down the aisle.
One of the funniest moments for us was definitely during our wedding ceremony.
During our wedding vows where we have to repeat the lines, we both kept saying the lines before we should have and the questions had to be asked again. This happened several times and everyone was laughing.
The Reception
We had Fantasy Flowers in Eastwood provide our table flower arrangements and petals on the tables.
A talented friend made the flower arrangements on the fireplaces and the birdcage arrangement where our tea ceremony was held.
I made our table numbers, menus and table plan along with the help from my maid of honor. We purchased name cards from Ebay all handwritten by myself and my maid of honor again.
All stationery were designed and made by myself and my maid of honor. I purchased the card from pdacardandcraft.co.uk
We had a DIY sweet table for the favours. The sweets were all purchased from Macros, the jars were bought from various shops. All the labels and the Ferrero Rocher trees were made by myself.
Our first dance was to Brian McKnight Back at One.
Top Wedding Tips
Only go with the DIY route if you have a LOT of spare time to design and make everything. It took up a lot of our time than we anticipated and the house was a constant mess while we were making them.
Congratulations Carmen and Kachun – the tenderness and joy in your wedding photographs absolutely resonate beautifully by Sam & Louise’s great photography. A lovely union! Thank you for sharing your wedding with Nu Bride..
