Over to Karen!

 Tell us about Amara

Amara was co-founded 10 years ago by husband & wife team Andrew & Sam Hood and has grown from an interiors shop to the largest independent online interiors etailer with over 300 brands and 30,000 products. Our gift list service is therefore totally unique offering access to all of these brands and more if required!

What is Amara’s bridal registry?

We offer a gift list service that is quick & easy to set up online with immediate access to thousands of wonderful interior & gift brands from bathroom accessories to barbeques. It is also extremely simple for your guests to use and leave a message, all of which is recorded on your personal page so you can always see who has bought what.

How does this differ from other wedding gift lists on the market?

Our service is totally bespoke, from the initial setting up of your list, you are appointed a dedicated wedding list coordinator who is constantly on call for all your needs. There is nowhere else you can choose from such a selection of brands, we can even source other collections that we may not have.

Your guests can shop on our international sites in any currency which is relevant to the majority of our clients these days. I think one of our most popular & unique features are the flexibility you have after your wedding. For example: after the honeymoon when you are more relaxed you can sit down and reassess the gifts that have been purchased; you can change & return any items. In fact you just need to think of that total pot of money spent as yours to use at as you wish!

What about couples who enjoy luxury but want something a little bit different?

We have plenty of luxury home brands and many that are quirky, some cover both such as Seletti that feature small collections from designers, including Diesel, who recently launched a collection of porcelain dinner plates in cosmic designs featuring the Moon, Saturn and such like.

Tell us about your wedding journal?

Our wedding journal is the go to destination for all things weddings. There are four categories full of new & exciting articles on the best around in the luxury wedding market. From ‘how to’ guides with a leading London hair stylist, to interviews with international wedding planners – an online wedding magazine that keeps our clients in touch with the latest news around.

What do you enjoy most about being Head of Bridal Registry?

That is a tough one; I enjoy all aspects as I am involved with all aspects of our service from the creative side of the website, the curatorial side of exhibiting as well as the day to day management of the lists. I think it would be the retail part of helping brides complete their lists and sending them wonderful packages of their personally chosen gifts!

What do you find most challenging?

Probably reaching out to couples and having the opportunity to tell them all about all the personal and bespoke service we have to offer!

What top tips would you recommend to help couples create an interesting gift list?

1. I would always suggest creating a long and varied list, offering your guests as much choice as possible, that way they are more likely to make a purchase.

2. You need to offer gifts that will appeal to Great Aunty Doris as well as your boss or a close friend; this could be a pretty vase to a luxurious games compendium.

3. Also consider the cost of items to suit all purses. Remember that you can always change items when you are ready to close your list.

4. Most of all, enjoy browsing the website for all those exciting and varied things from Ralph Lauren lighting or an ostrich side table to state of the art headphones!

So chic!
