Good Morning Beautiful,
Bringing a drop of sunshine to your day today.
I love it when a couple doesn’t shy away from incorporating bright beautiful colours into their wedding day
When delightful London wedding planner Andri Benson, of Always Andri, contacted me about her couple: Sophia and Oskar’s colourful Dulwich College wedding, I knew I had to share it with you.
I first became aware of the depth of Andri’s creativity for the contemporary couple when I featured her organic shoot.
Sophia, radiant in her stylish Elizabeth Todd Gown, is of Caribbean-Indian heritage and Oskar of Spanish heritage; married on the June 2013 at Christ Church Chapel, Dulwich. Followed by an intimate reception at Dulwich College.
Sophia and Oskar included their twin children beautifully into their wedding day and also had their vicar perform a baptism for the twins as part of the wedding ceremony. I don’t know a more poignant way to symbolise a union of two people coming together as one family.
One reason I love this wedding is because the setting is unexpected for a wedding and takes place in a College. The Great Hall in Dulwich College is a beautiful wedding backdrop, very regal and very grand, with the longest of top tables, seating ALL of the guests.
Another gorgeous example of a quality wedding without hundreds of guests or a wedding party.
Favourite moment for me? Look out for the steel band in the form of marching band with wedding guests following like pied piper!
A beautiful contemporary wedding and a stunning example of how to think a little bit outside of the box and do things your own way, with the help of a talented wedding planner.

Our flowers were by Blue Sky Flowers. My bouquet was a trailing teardrop hand-tied bouquet comprising strong purple Hydrangeas, bright orange Roses and Singapore Orchids with Mango and /purple/black Calla Lilies
We had Lucy Williams at My Heart Skipped as our wedding photographer. She was amazing, I love every one of the photos and have covered my home in prints from the day.
We chose not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen, instead I just asked all the female guests to wear tulip colours so shades of purple, mauve, lilac, violet, orange, pink, red or even yellow (hot tulip colours) and wear hats or fascinators as they attended in place of the bridesmaids and a matron of honour in the photos with the bride
All the men were asked to wear navy suits and brown shoes
My favourite moment of our wedding day was being walked down the aisle by twin daughter and son and the ceremony.
Table centrepieces were a mix of tall and low displays comprising either a ball of purple Hydrangea and Lisianthus, large-headed and spray orange Roses, Celosia and Freesia with dark green foliage that ran along the length of the table.
We chose not to have favours and had a bespoke invitation suite made by Design by Bionic
The Great Hall at the Dulwich college is an amazing building and really didn’t need any additional décor other then the table and the centrepieces, but I did have my heart set on decorating the main staircase leading up to the hall with foliage and flowers which liz did with foliage and hydrangeas.
We had a delicious 3 course meal by Dulwich College’s in house catering team, Oskar’s mum, who is Spanish wanted to experience a very traditional British menu
Our 3 tiered wedding cake was made by Domino Purchas in an ombre purple to orange with a cascade of pulped to orange orchids by Blue Sky Flowers also had cupcakes for the kids
