What a gorgeous submission I have for you today!
I first fell in love with Chris & Luann after showing off their brilliantly stylish engagement session in trendy Notting Hill London, so it is no surprise that their wedding day at the majestic Luton Hoo is just as stylish…..Plus the way Chris looks at Luann……heavenly!
Chris and Luann are a gorgeous mix of cultural bliss. Chris born in the UK of British, French Guiana, St Lucian heritage and Luann is Malaysian.
With a traditional Malaysian ceremony set to follow, they wanted their UK wedding to pay homage to traditional English romance, after-all, England is where they grew up, met and fell in love.
Luann & Chris carefully weaved Britain into their wedding theme, including Luann’s couture, British made, English lace, short, chic dress.
Plus, what better way to capture British essence, than to fuse their winter wedding theme with traditional afternoon tea, with the mother of all dessert tables!
The synergy between Chris and Luann once again is just stunning, captured so beautifully in Binky Nixon’s dreamy photography.
I adore Luann’s fashionable (Vogue worthy) bridal style, which she pulls off effortlessly in her bespoke short wedding dress from Timeless Couture, complemented by a sassy winter coat and dazzling Jimmy Choo’s.
An elated Chris looks just as handsome in his trendy navy blue Reiss suit with a super cool splash of champagne gold.
Chris and Luann are another modern couple who decided to do it their own way and travel ‘light’ without formal bridesmaids or groomsmen, in an incredibly elegant and intimate celebration with close friends and family.
This is how you ‘do’ a classic winter wedding with a stunning modern, stylish twist. Gorgeous.
Over to the gorgeous bride Luann….
We got married on the 11th December 2013 at Luton Registry office followed by our reception in Luton Hoo
We didn’t have much difficulty finding inspiration with so many amazing wedding blogs which were so helpful and inspiring during the planning process.
Cultural representation on the other hand was slightly more tricky, as we both have such different cultural backgrounds and live in England.
Since all of my family live abroad, we were planning to have a second celebration in Malaysia afterwards and incorporate tradition then. With England being the country where we met, grew up, fell in love and got married, we went for an English theme as an ode to England. From the afternoon tea, to a wedding dress made from English lace and by English designer; Timeless Couture, down to good old-fashioned English roses for my bouquet!
I loved every part of the day but to pin point my favourite moment, it would have to be when we exchanged our vows.
The Luton Hoo Hotel is such a beautiful venue, so we went for simple baby breath centrepieces to complement, but not distract from the décor of the room that we were in.
We made the wedding stationery ourselves, and our favours were boxes tied with a satin bow with name tags which served as place cards as well as take-away boxes for the guests to fill up with cake from the dessert table. All the materials were sourced from local markets.
We had a dessert table made by Asma from The Sugared Saffron Cake Company. Asma did a great job on the different cakes and desserts which were all different flavours – the cakes looked and tasted amazing!
To eat, we had lovely afternoon tea starting the afternoon off with Winter Pimms, sandwiches, scones, cakes, and then more cakes!
