Today a gorgeous, simple, family wedding, (featuring some simply heavenly little ones), with a brilliant focus on how to make the most of talented family members! There are some inspiring personal touches, from button-holes to flower crowns for gorgeous flower girls.
Ps. Look out for the stunning wedding cake made by the bride! How and when did she have time?! Amazing
Luke – who describes himself as a ‘South London Geezer’ (lol) broke the north / south London divide and wooed natural beauty and North Londoner Carli with his charms (and shared appreciation of rum).
Luke and Carli wanted to have a relaxed wedding that reflected them both. Tying the knot in a laid back North London wedding at Lauderdale House, in trendy Highgate on the 2nd August 2014.
They enlisted the help of wedding photographer Hannah Larkin Photography to capture their gorgeous day. I adore how perfectly natural Luke and Carli (and their guests!) are in-front of Hannah. Gorgeous!
Over to you Carli & Luke!
I was returning from a hen do in Brighton and Luke opened the front door to let me in. As I walked into the house I noticed he had been deep cleaning which was out of character. I wondered what was going on as he had also lovingly prepared a three course meal. As this meal came to an end, Luke got down on one knee and proposed to me! He looked extremely nervous and of course I said yes. He had remembered my “ring preferences” and chose a princess cut diamond, it was a total shock.
We are quite laid back and decided to go with what we liked for our wedding theme, as opposed to what we thought our guests would like. It was our day after all.
I like a bit of sparkle, whereas Luke is more traditional, so we combined the two. We both like drinking rum…A. Lot
Our favourite moment of our wedding day was when Luke first saw me in my dress and we prepared to make our vows.
We decided to provide our own reception food and alcohol. We had a selection of cheeses, homemade chutney and humous.
A family friend handmade a Swedish Sweet table for us as a wonderful wedding gift.
We also provided free alcohol to all of our guests including a selection of beers, wine and a choice of two rum cocktails.
We went for a DIY theme with our flowers too and used talented family members to help with decoration. Our flowers were bought from Floral Design House in Muswell Hill. The groomsmen’s button-holes were made by Luke’s mum and sister. The table flowers were created by my mum in beautifully decorated tins. We got the idea from Pinterest!
The funniest memory was definitely our best men’s speeches (Nu Bride: I can see!)
We had DJ Kofi entertaining us through the night he was very popular with the guests. We also provided garden games were provided however they were not used.
For our first dance we dance to; I wanna know what love is Mariah Carey. Our guests all surprised us by popping giant party poppers on us at the crescendo.
