Stylish White & Dusky Pink Wedding featuring Manolo Blahniks by Cristina Rossi Wedding

When this wedding landed in my inbox from the super lovely Cristina Rossi Photography, I instantly fell in love with the fun energy from the bride and groom and their entire wedding party including the GORGEOUS flower girls and page boys!
The effortlessly stylish bride Lola and groom Shola, celebrated their wedding at the Hilton Hotel Canary Wharf, London and did not let a single raindrop dampen the joyful spirit of their wedding day. The happiness that beams through in Cristina’s photographs is so infectious!

Shola and I had always spoken about marriage and I knew a proposal was on its way but didn’t think it would happen that night (7 December 2012). He proposed right in the centre of the Somerset House outdoor ice-skating rink, (Nu Bride: smooth romantic!) in front of other skaters.
Shola and his friend had planned that everything would be captured on camera by the stewards. It was such a beautiful surprise.
What I loved about the proposal was that it was well planned with a picture for every moment. I absolutely adore that fact that Shola stepped out of his comfort zone (he had never skated in his life!) and chose the most romantic setting; a cold winter evening, on the ice, in front of a large Christmas tree and loads of sparkling lights and cheering onlookers. Absolutely perfect!
For our wedding theme we chose a simple but stylish decor with white and dusky pink theme.
My Make-up was by Joy Adenuga and she use a mix of champagne and browns on the eyeshadow
I wore a lace vintage inspired dress by designer Maggie Sottero with dusty pink Manolo Blahnik decorated with diamante accessories.
Shola wore a bespoke white tuxedo jacket, with black trousers and a matching bow tie. This was designed by the Nigerian designer Mai Atafo.
Our flowers were by Vanilla Rose and we chose a variety dusty pink colours to complement our theme.
The flower girls were dressed in dusty pink dresses from Pink Marie decorated with roses and a champagne coloured netting. The page boys wore vintage suits with pink bow ties and a flat cap.
Our bridesmaids wore a light two toned champagne/light pink satin dress from Coast. They used pearl earrings, necklace and bracelet to match the vintage theme with dusty pink shoes which matched their flowers.
Nu Bride: Run ladies run! Don’t let your hair get wet!
The groomsmen were in traditional black suits with skinny black ties and dusky pink button holes.
We chose a simple décor with white hydrangea’s in flower pots and a dusty pink rose to match with the dusty pink theme, surrounded by little tea lights. The cake was by Sweet Tiers , we chose an ivory colour with dusty pink roses and lace embellishment and pearls to match the brides and bridesmaids dresses.
We also chose to surround the cake with little treats to include cupcakes, meringues, cake pops, mini cakes and macaroons. The cupcakes were topped with lovely cupcake toppers with words to celebrate the Shola and I.
Funmbi, the comedian was our MC of the day, who also gave a five-minute comedy set. This was special as he was a friend of mine. My sister also sang “So amazing” by Luther Vandross which was beautiful. This was followed by speeches by my father, our friends and of course Shola.
For our first dance, we chose; “when I first saw you” by Beyoncé and Jamie Foxx. This was the first ever song the Shola sent to me whilst we were dating.
Nu Bride: Love this photo, one of the thing I love most about weddings is friends and family losing themselves in the joy of your wedding day!
Such a beautiful and stylish wedding Lola and Shola! Thank you so much for sharing your wedding with Nu Bride.
Wishing you much happiness!
