Oooh! Another gorgeous and rather epic proposal and engagement shoot to share with you and this one is courtesy of Ceylan and Leon.
The gorgeous Ceylan and Leon got engaged in November 2011 (ditto! ) During a winter ice-skating trip to Somerset House (Leon you romantic, you!) Read on to find out more and view images of their delicious engagement shoot captured brilliantly by distinctive photographer; Urban Bridesmaid.
This Engagement Shoot at The Movement Cafe, Greenwich, London evidently captures the essence of Ceylan and Leon’s personalities and makes me grin from ear-to-ear!
It was the day of the Unison strike, so Leon wasn’t going to work. He suggested taking the children ice-skating and inviting our nearest and dearest too. So we did.
That morning, whilst getting ready, Leon discouraged me from wearing any makeup and advised me to wear comfy tracksuit bottoms.
We made our way to Somerset House and walked over Waterloo Bridge. It was cold, but the sun was shining, the perfect weather for outside activities with children.
Leon and I can be quite competitive; and so, the banter was constant between us. Who was going to fall over first? Which one of us could do a lap of the ice rink the quickest and so on.
We arrived and it was an amazing atmosphere. Christmas music playing over the speakers, children giggling and the gigantic Christmas tree towering above everyone.
We got our boots, laced up and cautiously pigeon stepped onto the ice. Our daughter was only small so she sat with our Mothers while we whizzed around with our, then, 6-year-old son.
It took a while to get used to skating and soon I was skating without feeling the need to hold on for dear life when I noticed our son on the floor ahead of me.
I skated over to him, in the most ladylike way I could manage (I can imagine Ceylan!) and he lifted a box towards me saying: “I tripped over this.”
I opened the box and inside was a piece of paper with three tick boxes; yes, no and maybe. All of a sudden I noticed everyone looking behind me.
I turned to see what everyone was staring at and along came Leon, gliding on one knee with my ring in his hand-held up high. He stopped a few feet away from me and had to shuffle himself forward (Nu Bride: Tee hee) but then asked “Will you marry me?” Instantly the music over the speakers changed from Christmas jingles to Alicia Keys’ “A Woman’s Worth”. I cried and said yes instantly. (Nu Bride: Oh my gosh, this is epic, Leon and Ceylan!)
I was chuffed to pieces that not only did this amazing man, the best man I have ever met in my life, want to marry me, but that he had put all this effort in to propose to me in such a romantic way and to get our son involved too. (Nu Bride: Cunning!)
That was the icing on the cake! Leon wanted to marry me. He had proposed in the most romantic way, at Somerset House, outdoors ice-skating with me in my comfy old clothes and not a smudge of make-up to be seen. (Nu Bride: I love that Leon asked you to be comfortable and make-up free, you, just the way you are!)
LOVE! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful proposal story and engagement shoot!
