Today Mr Nu Bride and I are celebrating our 1st year wedding anniversary! Hurrah! We made it! ;o)
I really wanted to celebrate this special day with you and share our wedding video highlights by the talented team at Gorgeous Film I would love it if you could join me in a little reminiscing and reflection. :o)
I cannot believe it was a year ago that I was standing with giddy excitement and a flutter of nerves, with my bridesmaids and Dad behind the ceremony door. Just waiting for one more moment as a ‘Miss’. Listening to the sounds of our string quartet and gospel choir singing Des’rees’ “Kissing You”
Waiting for my cue to enter, with my proud Dad by my side. Giving my maid of honour a knowing smile; with a mixture of sadness and excitement, as I was about to wave goodbye to my former identity and embark on my journey to becoming a wife.
♥ 15 Things I have learnt in my 1st year of Marriage ♥
♥ I have learnt that marriage is not one thing. It is an investment of love, happiness, patience and growth.
♥ That time goes so fast; and sometimes I wish I could freeze time, so I could grab just one more moment to take it all in.
♥ I have learnt that the foundation of marriage is silent and powerful.
♥ I still find housework as dull as dishwater (Bad wife!).
♥ That love can grow even more than I knew was possible.
♥ I discovered the post wedding blues, and I did not care for them much.
♥ I learnt that my vows are so much more than words. They are mighty and really helpful (especially when one loses her patience a-hem!) and a beautiful comfort when life throws some of its unwanted curve balls.
♥ I have learnt that I find the “when are you having children?” question really irritating and invasive.
♥The “how’s married life” question is equally irritating – as If somehow after saying my nuptials I suddenly teleported into an entire different #teammarried life and universe.
♥ Having someone always there to smile and laugh with me (and at me!) is irreplaceable.
♥ That people are significantly less excited to hear that I am ‘married’, which is in stark contrast to the squeals and tears I used to get when I told people I was engaged. lol!
♥ That marriage makes you re-evaluate relationships with family and friends around you, for the better and also releases you from the worst.
♥That marriage doesn’t mean we are exempt from health challenges and life’s up’s and down’s, but it does give a powerful foundation for getting through them together.
♥That my ‘new’ signature still looks like it is written by a 6-year-old!
♥ That being referred to as ‘my wife’ will never grow thin.
I would love to hear what you have learnt / hope to learn in your 1st year of marriage! Please feel free to comment in the box below.
Much love and thank you for sharing in our journey to happily ever after, I will be writing a feature on what Mr Nu Bride are getting up to today to mark this special occasion soon! xxx
