Hello Gorgeous ones,

Today I am showcasing an insanely talented twenty-somethings new couture bridal range (Now I know you should never ask or share a lady’s age, BUT, today I make an exception, credit where credit is due!)

For those of you that don’t know, the spritely Charlotte Garratt is one of the youngest bridal designers in the UK. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother as a designer, Charlotte went on to graduate from the London College of Fashion and soon took the UK wedding industry by storm and started her own range; formerly known as ‘Charlotte Bridal’ in 2011.

By 2012 Charlotte had already nabbed herself the award of Best Bridal Designer – London, at the Wedding Industry Awards. With continued success, in March 2013 at Searcys Knightsbridge, she launched her brand new Couture collection: ‘Charlotte Garrratt’ designed specifically to launch into the luxury bridal market. (You can read more about Charlotte’s 2013 couture launch via stunning photographer; Cristina Rossis’ blog.)

I still believe there is something quite magical about having a wedding dress made for you from scratch, designed with you, with your body shape and personality in mind from start to finish, with the designer close at hand, every step of the way.

If a bespoke service is something you are considering, do read on to find out more about Charlotte and her bespoke design service, finding the right dress for your body shape and of course, swoon over Charlotte’s 2013 Couture collection.

Charlotte Garratt is definitely one to watch my darlings. Don’t say you didn’t hear it from me first! Enjoy!

♥ What is the element you love most about designing wedding dresses? ♥

CG: I love being able to create something completely new for each bride, constantly challenging myself to create new ideas and designs.

♥ Favourite material to work with? ♥

CG: Where possible, I always try to work with Silk. Silk taffeta is my favourite fabric of all time as it’s perfect for creating more sculptural gowns and is perfect for corsetry.

♥ Have you found any challenges being a young designer in the UK bridal industry? ♥
CG: I have found that everyone within the wedding industry is really lovely and friendly, they’re always ready to help out a friend in need or give business advice, and in return I try to help students and younger people who are looking to enter the industry.

♥ What are your top tips to help an overwhelmed bride find the right dress for their personality and body shape? ♥

CG: Take notes. Did you like that sleeve or that skirt? Does a particular designer keep cropping up?
Don’t visit too many boutiques, if you’re already beginning to feel confused, take a step back and breathe. (Nu Bride: Priceless advice Charlotte! Shame I wasn’t given this advice before I tried on 50 wedding dresses and was ready to walk down the aisle in a bin liner!)

Bespoke is always a good option as designers can usually tell what will suit which body shape, height etc. Alternatively brides could read my ten top tips for wedding dress shopping here –

More About Charlotte
Charlotte Garratt is a couture bespoke design studio based in South London. We create one of a kind designs catered to each individual brides needs and desires. Each gown is designed and transformed into fabric at the studio by Charlotte herself. The finest fabrics such as silks, French and Italian laces, tulles etc, are individually sourced for each bride, and every pattern is drafted by hand to the brides exact measurements. Once sewn all gowns are hand finished, often with beading, buttons and Swarovski crystals. Visiting the Charlotte Garratt design studio is probably unlike anything a bride may have experienced before. We aren’t a bridal boutique; couture design is a luxurious process that involves creative processes and personalised service. Attention is focused solely on the bride and her needs in a relaxed, design orientated environment. Prices start from £3000 for a bespoke service.
