Final Countdown

Hello my beauties,

It dawned on me as I recently picked up my wedding dress (Booty wins! It now fits like a glove!), that is the last time I will ever be in a bridal store trying on my dress, the last time I will be nip and tucked by the seamstress and the last time I will be a bride-to-be in a bridal store. So i decided to savour the moment for as long as I could and linger for a little while longer. Holding onto that giddy excitement for a few more minutes. As I was savouring the moment, a new bride-to-be walked in with her mother and two-year-old son for the first time, looking at all the array of beautiful dresses like candy in a candy store, I glanced over to her and gave her a knowing smile, feeling a sense of sadness. Even Sheila (the owner of the store) became a little teary eyed when she said goodbye and handed over my dress to me – the end of a journey for her too! (I am pretty sure I will be back there with my wedding album, I’ve had such a wonderful experience at BOA Boutique, I will miss going back there, so any excuse and I am sure I will visit! )

As I walked down Richmond High Street, with my wedding dress carrier firmly on my shoulder, I got a few stares and stopped by excited women on the street asking if i was carrying a wedding dress and by excited staff in a little pastry cafe (yes I was eating cake!) sending congratulations and asking when i was getting married. It didn’t take long for that sadness to completely diminish and excitement for the new journey to start bubbling through. Alas, a wonderfully exciting wedding dress shopping journey has come to an end….which can only mean one thing….MY WEDDING IS ALMOST HERE!

As my own wedding draws closer and closer, I indeed have to focus on the last minute planning bits and get down to business! As such, since it is just me myself and I that runs Nu Bride, you may start to notice a slight infrequency with posts (unless I am suffering from insomnia). But don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about my dear readers and have a wonderful selection of personal and guest posts to keep you entertained over my wedding and honeymoon period. I will also start a wonderful wedding report for you all when I get back to earth! Any enquiries that I get during the time I am in wedded and honeymoon bliss, I will of course respond to with delight on my return.

How fast has this year gone? The euphoria and adrenaline are immense! This is one excited bride-to-be! Thank you all so much for following my personal journey and for continuing to support Nu Bride! ;o)

Much love

Nu Bride

I remember collecting my dress from the seamstress for the final time and feeling really teary too. And a bit awkward about whether I should hug her or not! Ha. Enjoy the final count down!

    Sooo exciting!! Not long now.

Thanks so much for sharing where you got your dress. I’ve been really struggling to find wedding dress boutiques for some reason. Maybe I’ve been subconsciously avoiding them because I know I don’t want to spend a lot of money on my dress and these shops seem to ooze luxury and expense……lol xx

Thanks Natalie! It’s gone very quickly!
I had a wonderful experience at BOA Boutique, they have some items still in the sale there so you never know you may find a little deal! There’s also a 70% sample sale of various bridal designers taking place on the 2nd November at One Mayfair, London w1.
I’ve also got a guest post on the second hand wedding market that you may also find interesting! Stay tuned!
