Claudine and David Bali Wedding

I have a beautiful submission for you today to coincide with the London Olympic Opening ceremony!

Claudine and David got married on the 28th June 2012 in beautiful Bali, Indonesia at The Amanusa Resort.

Scroll down and be prepared to swoon! Claudine gives us a fantastic breakdown of the run up to her wedding and the photographer truly captured the beauty of the island and the essence of the day wonderfully, which I can only translate as pure joy!

Thank you so much for sharing your special day with us Claudine and David, truly breathtaking!

The girls and I had so much fun getting ready!

Dave proposed in the romance capital of the world: Amsterdam! Ha. We went away for a city break and I was none the wiser. He tried a few times in various parts of the city bless him but I kept nattering away and moving us on, so he eventually just asked me on the bed when we got back to the apartment. It was really sweet…didn’t get down on one knee though!

Now that is some to-do list Claudine!

We decided to get married outside of the UK because I [Claudine] have a massive family and Dave has a small family. A UK wedding would have highlighted this massively. But the main reason to be honest was the weather. You can never depend on the British sunshine and we love sunshine. We picked Amanusa Resort as we went there on holiday a few years ago and loved it so much, we knew we wanted to come back, so why not come back and get married. I am ridiculously critical when it comes to hotels and I genuinely cannot fault this hotel at all…not one teeny tiny bit, they did everything we asked for and more. The staff were so wonderfully attentive and friendly and most of all everyone seemed to share in our excitement. It was truly amazing.

I love this shot – hope you didn’t get any toothpaste on your dress Claudine! ;o)

My dress is by Maggie Sottero, called Mae. It was a sample dress so I got it for the bargain price of £600, plus I had an additional strap made and some alterations. When arriving at bridal shops, as soon as I told them I was having a destination wedding, they immediately sent me towards a certain kind of dress; light, travels well, etc. But these type of dresses don’t suit me, so I picked the ultimate no-no in terms of destination dress, heavy satin! But I loved it. The dress shop packed it for me a few days before we flew to Indonesia (special rolling technique apparently) and then a lot of steamy bathroom action for the dress once we arrived!

Aw – how beautiful are your bridesmaids and these dresses!
My bridesmaids dresses were from Spotlight at Warehouse, Umbrella’s from Hanging Lantern and sandals and hair flowers are from good old Primark!
Our chosen destination was not close and a huge financial outlay for all of our guests so we automatically knew a lot of people would not be able to come. Some family members were upset with us. The word selfish has come up a lot. But it’s all okay now. Also you need to let people know in advance so that they can save. But of course people’s circumstances change a lot in a year, so we have had drop-outs due to job losses, break ups, pregnancies, everything. We had a small wedding of 20 Guests, intimate and fun! It was based partly on the hotel grounds in a tree-lined courtyard and then we moved onto the beach for the reception.
The shoes…..I had bought a beautiful pair of Jimmy Choo’s, but having tried and failed to break them in and wear them for more than an hour without adopting that painful mincing walk, I bought a sparkly pair from the Next occasion wear line for £30. They were very very comfy.

Fairy light sand entrance to the reception.

Despite the fact the days leading up to the wedding were manic and testing to say the least! We are so very glad we stuck to our guns and went through with a destination wedding, on the day it was all worth it and truly the best day of my life. I’m a walking cliché!!

Congratulations Claudine and Dave I am elated for you and feel honoured to share some of the memories with you through your photographs! Thank you again for sharing your special day with Nu Bride readers and continue to treasure these precious moments!

Simply stunning. I would so like to have a destination wedding but whatever will be, will be.
