Wedding Dress Wonderland – White Gallery London 2012

I was lucky enough to be invited to the White Gallery London 2012 earlier this week, which is a premier event for some of the top UK and international bridal designers to showcase their new collections to some of the most exclusive wedding retailers and media.

I must say, the 5″ heels I opted to wear, turned out to be a significantly bad choice after a 40 minute walk through a serene and beautiful Battersea Park, to get to Battersea Evolution (which might I add is a wonderful blank canvas for a wedding venue), however on a glorious sunny day surrounded by such talent. The blisters were worth it.

One of the highlights for me, was the chance to meet with the talent behind the bridal gowns and accessories; the designers. It was an absolute honour to see and talk through their craftsmanship with them, most of which were working hard the night before the White Gallery London opened, making last-minute finishing touches to their dresses! It was a real delight to see their enthusiasm and passion behind their work – their work is what transforms brides-to-be into princesses for the day. I am in awe of them and the way their dresses can make us feel.

What I loved about White Gallery London was the welcomed variety of designers and dresses being showcased on and off the catwalk. It was a refreshing change from the similar selection of gowns I was faced with as a consumer in bridal stores when searching for my own wedding dress.

The catwalk shows gave attendees a chance to see the dresses in all their glory. As beautiful as the catwalk models were, of course it would have been lovely to see a little more ethnic diversity on the catwalk (ahem!) Presented with an array of heavenly gowns with luxurious trains that caressed the catwalk, to elegant lace and swarokvski crystal grace.

Those of you who haven’t yet found your dress and are looking to get married later on this year or in 2013, are in for an absolute treat! There are some truly beautiful choices coming soon.

Particular favourites of mine are:

Elizabeth Stuart: Just as beautiful as her gowns, Elizabeth has a wonderful signature to her designs and a delicious, fresh and unique new range for 2013, including her new White Label collection which is designed for those who prefer an elegant and sophisticated slimline dress as an alternative to a fuller skirt. (Full feature on Elizabeth’s new collection coming soon!)

Beautiful model Esme is wearing a dress from the Elizabeth Stuart 2013 new White Label range (Ps. Aren’t the roses in the background pretty!)

Madeline Isaac James: The 2013 collection offers beautiful, elegant and a breathtakingly refreshing new collection, plus a gorgeous new bridesmaid range to compliment. The collection is by the truly delightful and talented designer; Natalie Gladman (who might I add has named one of her new designs after my mum – which I am ecstatic about – delicious full feature coming soon!). I felt honoured, as I will soon be a Madeline Isaac James bride and Natalie took her time to go through a variety of her new designs, the inspiration behind the names of her gowns and had her stunning model try on lots of her collection for me.

The Vintage Wedding Dress Company (TVWDC) continue to offer elegant gowns with simple clean lines where you can tailor make your wedding dress to your taste by adding accessories such as, sleeves, skirts etc. Bridal boutiques are given a TVWDC pack and can advise brides on additions which compliment design styles. A great way to change the feel of the dress for evening / day.

Other favourites were the 1950’s and 1930’s inspired dresses from the wonderful Ritva Westenius and Blue, with some show stoppers from Terry Fox, Hollywood Dreams,Ozlem Suer and elegant delights from Naomi Neoh.

I am also excited to let you know about Johanna Hehir and Sassi Holford who have both launched delicious new affordable ranges, but not compromising on quality, aimed at the younger bride. Johanna Hehir’s new collection is called ‘Mae’ and Sassi Holford’s new collection is called ‘So Sassi’. Stay tuned!

And lucky you – I will be able to give you an exclusive preview on some of my favourite designers 2013 collections over the coming weeks! For now, some more catwalk pictures to enjoy and whet your appetite!
