I have TWO pieces of very exciting news to share with you all!
Firstly, I have been asked to write a real bride diary for Belle Noir Bride!
I first found out about Belle Noir Bride through the lovely Charley Beard of the London Bride (another source I use for wedding planning inspiration), not long after I started writing Nu Bride. I was excited to read her mission and her musings. One because it was exactly what I was looking for as a black bride-to-be, somewhere else to source inspiration and two it confirmed that I was not just being paranoid in my quest to search for more ethnic inclusion in mainstream. Nicola also experienced the same issues when she was a bride-to-be….and thus Belle Noir Bride was born.Nicola of Belle Noir Bride and Nova of Nu Bride Image Copyright: inspire101.fophotography.co.uk Photo Taken at Cedar Events Inspire 101 Champagne Reception @ Harrods, London February 2012.
So naturally I was thrilled when beautiful Nicola of Belle Noir Bride first asked me in January to do a real bride diary for her blog in the run up to our wedding….the first instalment is HERE. Take a look. It will mostly be from my POV as my fiance is rather mysterious and prefers to be behind the lens rather than in front of it, the complete opposite of myself. What can I say LOL!
Other wonderful news is, through writing Nu Bride, I have been approached by a brand new publication called NU People Magazine and have been asked to be a regular columnist for them!!! 🙂
I will be writing about a variety of topics from current affairs to anything that inspires me at the time, so no doubt there will also be some wedding talk thrown in there too! Utterly thrilled, humbled and excited! Carrie Bradshaw eat your heart out!Image source: Once Upon a Shine
For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed writing, whether it be writing stories, scripts or keeping journals. I often wonder why it has taken me so long to start blogging (probably because I thought no-one would be interested in reading what i have to say. LOL!)
I have my first deadline coming up soon, so I had better get cracking!! NU People Magazine is due to be launched online in June and paper publication in September. The magazine is aimed at the Afro-Caribbean community and anyone else who has an interest in the community’s lifestyle and culture. Its vision is on creating a magazine that redefines black lifestyle and business in the media.Image Copyright: Nu People Magazine
Do keep checking back over the coming months for further info on the magazine and the launch date.
As always thank you for your support and stay tuned for more wedding blogging love later this week!
