About Me

Delighted to meet you!

My name is Nova, I adore weddings and I adore helping people and to my husbands despair, I also adore shoes!

New Shot to replace dancing sidebar imageProudly representing ‘team married’ and on my journey through happily ever after.

When I am not busy engulfing myself in the wonderful of world of weddings, I am usually spending time with my husband, eating, socialising in posh places, gardening, or gossiping with my best friend.

I am editor and founder of Nu Bride, I am also a regular contributor writer for well-known UK wedding publications and a Huffington Post author.

I love variety. I originally trained and worked as a professional actress and singer  (and still dabble in the occasional sing-song), I am proud to be a holistic therapist and life coach.

My Story

novadipAfter an unexpected romantic proposal along the fairy lit London Embankment, you can imagine my complete elation after being with by beloved for 5 years and losing hope of ever receiving a proposal. The moment I got engaged I utterly indulged myself into the stunning wedding industry. The morning after the night before, I immersed myself in many gorgeous mainstream wedding magazines and wedding resources. After flicking through hundreds of pages of several magazines and attending lots of wedding shows, it became apparent that there seemed to be a huge gap in the market with the visual inclusion of black and other ethnic brides in the UK wedding industry. This void made me feel quite surprised, and unexpectedly excluded as a woman living in such a cosmopolitan and multicultural UK.  I was desperate to see inclusivity, to see positive images, of various types of women and more importantly women who looked liked me within the mainstream wedding industry…so the seed for Nu Bride was sown!

Nu Bride

Nu Bride was founded in January 2012 and was quickly identified as a leading blog. Just 18 months later, was nominated and selected as a finalist in the ‘Best Wedding Blog Newcomer’ category at Wedding Magazine’s: Wedding Blog Awards at The Ritz London. In 2014 Nu Bride won a Wedding Magazine Wedding Blog Award at The Savoy for ‘Best Big Day Inspiration’ and just a year later won the prestigious Editors Pick Award in the 2015 Wedding Blog Awards at The Tower of London, for the tireless work Nu Bride does to educate and encourage a more visually inclusive wedding industry.

I wanted to create a blog for the modern couple, which is fun, informative and where possible, inclusive, whilst offering advice and guidance on both practical and more importantly the emotional aspects of planning a wedding. (Warning, I write long and detailed posts!). I wanted to create a resource, which provides variety and introduces readers to lots of interesting and talented suppliers. Ultimately I wanted to make a conscious effort to provide positive images of beautiful women of all ethnicities. To begin to realign and introduce a  diverse mainstream wedding industry, by helping to reduce that gap in the market…even a teeny tiny bit.

We are all beautiful. We all matter!

I hope you enjoy it!

Much love

Nova aka: Nu Bride
