Laid Back Engagement Shoot at Ally Pally | Marshal Gray Photography

I wanna love you, and treat you right
I wanna love you, every day and every night
We’ll be together, with a roof right over our heads
We’ll share the shelter, of my single bed

This couple though!

If you haven’t already me Kyla and Mark, allow me to introduce you to these fun-loving Londoners. They got married last year and had a Notting Hill Carnival themed wedding and it was to die for.  I loved their  joyful vibe so much, I wanted to feature their engagement shoot at Ally Pally (Alexandra Palace), London and find out a little bit more about them –  oh just you wait till you read their first impressions of each other!

Epic shots captured by Marshal Gray Photography.  Go!

How you met?

We met when we were both studying at Identity Drama School in 2006.

First impressions?

Kyla –  Honestly, at first, he reminded me of someone I went to school with who I found somewhat “odd” haha (Nu Bride KYLA! LOL!) but once I got past that… A hottie, who wasn’t just cool and charismatic but seriously talented!!!

Mark –  When I first met Kyla, I thought she was beautiful, passionate & intelligent.

Your proposal story?

It was Christmas Eve 2015. The magic of Christmas was definitely in the air… My dad and I shared a perfect father-daughter moment as we revelled in the awesomeness that was Finn aka John Boyega in Star Wars on the big screen before we headed out to meet my soon-to-be-but-unbeknownst-to-me fiancé.

I swear, it was almost like I was being given away already as my father and hubby exchanged knowing looks before he gave me a big hug and let me and my love go on our merry way. We went for dinner at Pizza Express on The Strand, London, where we had our very first date near 10 years before. We sat and reminisced over the decade we had spent together, looking at the table where we first shared a meal together and about all the amazing things we’d still like to do in the future.

We headed home, high on the Christmas festivities only for me to be told to wait outside my front door once we got there… I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!! The door opened and there were candlelit lanterns everywhere and I mean EVERYWHERE! Up the stairs, on the landing, in the kitchen, bathroom, our bedroom, the SPARE bedroom and of course, the front room where he handed me a very special Christmas gift. I opened the present which revealed a DVD which read, “I love you. Play me!” so I did. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the instantly recognisable Up the stairs, on the landing, in the kitchen, bathroom, our bedroom, the SPARE bedroom and of course, the front room where he handed me a very special Christmas gift. I opened the present which revealed a DVD which read, “I love you. Play me!” so I did. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the instantly recognisable opening to a Disney film… Except, this wasn’t any ordinary Disney film… This was a Disney film to beat all Disney films… It was a Disney film COLLAGE of all the Disney classics that basically explained how much he loves me and that we should have our very own happy ending… The film finished with me aghast and in tears with the love of my life on one knee with the most perfect ring in his hands! I just kept asking him if he was serious lol… with the eventual,

“YES OF COURSE!!!”

What do you love most about each other?

Kyla – I love Marks carefree attitude and “I’ve got this” approach to life.

Mark – I love Kyla’s selflessness, warm caring heart and her desire to succeed.

Thanks for sharing you guys!

Mark and Kyla tied to knot in August bank holiday 2017 and you can see their joyful wedding day here – be warned, it’s a corker!
