Allow me to brighten up your day with this stunning luxury, modern wedding inspiration!
Put together by an eclectic team of super talented creatives, including delightful photographer Fiona Kelly, wonderful planner, Andri of Always Andri Wedding Design, florist, Amy Bowley of Bo Boutique and hair and make up artist, Kylie McMichael .
This elegant shoot was inspired by the ornate decor and stunning ceiling at Grade II listed hidden gem, The Fitzrovia Chapel. Such a majestic and beautiful venue, I can see why the team were so taken by it. This shoot is GREAT reminder to seek inspiration from and to also be inspired to style your wedding in keeping with the beauty of your venue.
I adore the clever use of gold, perspex and mosaics in the styling. The juxtaposition of all three is simply stunning!
This talented team has effortlessly created something modern, elegant and luxurious for discerning couples who appreciate luxury with contemporary style. Such a beautiful job.
Over to Andri for the details of how you can recreate the look and enjoy these beautiful images by Fiona Kelly.
Inspiration Behind The Shoot
Tucked away in a newly built square surrounded by shops and a restaurant sits the unassuming (from the outside) The Fitzrovia Chapel; step inside and you discover one of London’s truly hidden gems. The most magnificent gold mosaic, arched ceilings and intricate stain glass windows. The Fitzrovia Chapel is a splendid Grade II* listed building that was originally housed within The Middlesex Hospital. The hospital no longer exists, but the chapel was preserved, stunningly restored and recently opened its doors to host events including civil wedding ceremonies.
The minute I walked inside, I knew I wanted to design a shoot for the space. Taking inspiration from the venue itself the look was based around using gold with modern touches and lots of luscious white florals and green foliage. Bo Boutique created a fabulous oversized floral arrangement for our main focus on the altar with apple blossom, white lilacs, garden rose and foxgloves, flanked by urns of pampas grass.
With such a decadent space we wanted the furniture to fit seamlessly in with it and the Perspex Masters chairs from Wedhead were the perfect complement as they reflected the gold mosaic.
The Golden Letter was the natural choice for the modern stationery with her love of gold foiling and stylish details, that sat so beautifully with our gold table elements, sophisticated gold cutlery from the White Chair Company and the sparkly mosaic sequinned runner from The Sweet Party Shop.
Cake maker extraordinaire Claire Owen Cakes created a crisp white four-tiered cake adorned with gold and white circlets echoing, rather than copying the mosaic. Instead of placing the cake on a plain white clothed table we used a gorgeous marble-topped table.
Faith Caton Barber designs beautifully unique dresses that let the wearer be the star, so she was the natural choice for the wedding dresses for this shoot. We wanted two contrasting looks that still complemented the space. She created a bespoke blue ombré silk chiffon dress that picked up on the royal blue mosaic and a simpler ivory dress that we added a gold tulle cape to.
Located in central London Fitzrovia Chapel exudes beauty and charm that makes it the picture-perfect setting for an intimate wedding ceremony up to 60 guests and with Percy & Founders next door you can host your reception there too.
Recreate the Look
When thinking about the design for your wedding day, take inspiration from your venue.
Be inspired: Consider, are there some elements or colours you can pick up on to inspire the style and design? The look for this shoot very much took inspiration from the luxurious gold mosaic but it could be a pattern or texture from the walls or furniture that inspires you.
Chairs: There are such a fabulous range of chairs available to hire now and they can really enhance the look of your wedding day, so do consider the chairs you are having (there is an alternative to the messy chair cover!) – Nu Bride: No more chair covers!
Tableware: It may not always be in your budget to update all your tableware, but simple changes like hiring gold cutlery or even just upgrading to a striking water glass can help refine the look of the table.
Furniture: Do think about what your cake sits on, maybe you have a table already sitting at home that you can use. This will also be a lovely reminder of the day afterwards as your wedding cake sat on it.
