Modern Chic Dulwich College Wedding | Helen Abraham Photography & HD Moments

I could tell at that moment, me in my bed clothes, that he truly loved me for me.

Meet beautiful and deliciously radiant bride; Joy of British-Nigerian heritage and handsome groom Ifeyani also of Nigerian heritage.

Joy and Ifeyani married on the 30th April 2016 at St Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Dulwich, London followed by a reception at the spectacular Dulwich College, London

They had a joyful, glamorous and chic celebration with a pink, ivory and gold palette, full of giggles with their nearest and dearest.

This elegant wedding is captured impeccably by HD Moments on film, Helen Abraham in pictures and planned by the Perfect Events team and is an absolute joy.

Over to beautiful Joy for the rundown!

The Video

The Proposal

Ifeanyi caught me completely off guard and proposed in his bedroom, when I was least expecting it! I was wearing my bed clothes and night-time head scarf. It was very late and we both had work the next morning.

I really did not see it coming, and actually turned to go to bed as I could not figure out why he was saying all of these nice things in what sounded like a monologue at 2am! (Nu Bride: LOL!)

As I turned my back to walk away and get into bed, he grabbed my arm and was down on one knee with a beautiful diamond ring in his hands.

I cried, and stayed up all night staring at it. His words where so heartfelt and his proposal speech just flowed so naturally. Looking back I realised it doesn’t always have to be a grand production to be romantic. It was so authentic and heartfelt.

I could tell at that moment, me in my bed clothes, that he truly loved me for me.

Coming Together

We chose an elegant, chic theme. slightly modern (clean lines, no chair covers) but with a touch of classical glamour and a hint of bling (just a tiny bit)

We chose HD Moments to capture our day. We would recommend them fully, you did not know there were there all day!

We chose Helen Abraham Photography to capture our photography.  Would definitely recommend. She came in the car with dad and I to church and was so kind and soothing.

We chose Perfect Events to provide full wedding planning and event design

We had lots of giggles during our ceremony. Cylinder glass vases with submerged orchids lining the church aisle

As a surprise for Ifeanyi, I arranged with Perfect Events to organise a flash mob style performance during the ceremony, whereby the Gospel singers – Josh Tosh and 2 backing singers seated amongst our guests, towards the end of our wedding ceremony, to everyones surprise they got up and made their way towards the altar, singing a medley of songs by Sinach, Ifeanyi’s favourite Nigerian Gospel singer

We had lots of customised items throughout our wedding. We had a post box for cards with our names on it, customised wooden baskets in each toilet saying; “Joy and Ifeanyi” with toiletries for guests to freshen up. I was keen to have the large lights in the dance hall say “Mr and Mrs O” with white large standing lights.
We had a fantastic flower-wall by Beverley Wilson Flowers, suggested by Perfect Events to add a decorative feature whilst being a great backdrop for photos.

We had a photo-wall chosen to provide instant photos for guests to have as wedding favours. Ifeanyi is a photography enthusiast and wanted better quality images than those typically printed by Photo booth companies.

During the speeches we had sparklers on champagne flutes as they where brought out for final toast after groom’s speech.

For our first dance we chose John Legend’s “All Of Me”, cover version by Luciana Zogbi. I stumbled across her version on YouTube and loved the female voice on this beautiful song.

Our favourite moment was the confetti blast during the first dance. We free-styled our first dance, and as Ifeanyi spun me around, I could see all the lights in the room and all of our friends and family in the corner of my eye.
