I always knew there was something pretty magical the first time I met photographer and Nu Bride Ambassador; John Nassari two years ago.
His photography is in a completely different league and when you meet him, you understand why. He cares passionately about humanity and is an absolute master at storytelling, but more-so it is his silent grace and genuine humble-ness which is a pleasure to be around.
It was a great privilege to celebrate the launch at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hyde Park, London at his book launch and gallery earlier this year; 80 at 80.
In collaboration with photography giant Olympus and The Mandarin Oriental; John curated 80 at 80 in celebration of Olympus 80th anniversary and spent 10 months living in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel once or twice a week, to capture to true essence of how the hotel operates. The result is an elegant published book capturing the heart of the hotel in just 80 images. John wasn’t there to capture the glitz and the glamour of the luxury brand, but the reality of how a five class establishment in Knightsbridge runs, how they work to give you exceptional customer service each time, how the staff are treated, behind the scenes, the nitty gritty, the roles, the camaraderie the hard work, the joy.
It was really moving watching staff from the hotel recognised themselves in the gallery and book. Humbled, touched, proud, feeling validated and acknowledged whatever their role or status.
Enough from me, let the video and my exclusive interview with John Nassari do the talking.
