What comes to mind when you hear the word tradition? Boring? Uncreative? Obligatory? It doesn’t have to be any of that. When planning a wedding, […]
So lets start the week off with a bang, with a little bridal beauty magic!
After receiving lots of feedback about how difficult some of you feel it is to find bridal beauty inspiration for a variety of skin tones and hair types, I knew I wanted to do something to help.
I decided to put something together to show some delicious styling ideas for a variety of ethnicities and hair types creating a little bit of a mix of bridal beauty looks for you. Who else to collaborate with, other than some of my gorgeous and ridiculously talented Nu Bride Ambassadors, including; John Nassari , Ian Stuart, Brides and Beauty, Blue Sky Flowers, Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium, Errol Douglas Salon and Amara! Boy were they are a DREAM to work with!
Putting a shoot together is no easy feat. From navigating logistics, administration, negotiating, sourcing models, timetables. To styling, last-minute trouble-shooting, to-do lists, to humping furniture, more to-do-lists. Get the picture? But boy, is it inspiring on the day to watch everyone in their absolute creative element. I love it!
Here’s a brilliant behind the scenes peek of what we got up to, put together by the talented John Nassari team.
For our backdrop, we chose elegant, luxury boutique hotel; No.11 Cadogan Gardens, nestled in Knightsbridge, Chelsea. We were lucky enough to use their incredibly regal, 120sqm Sloane Penthouse Suite (beyond stunning) as well as their Drawing Room, Mirror room, their light and airy Conservatory and bar. In fact, there were so many delightful spots, we took over most of the hotel, yet No.11 Cadogan Gardens were so patient and accommodating with us. Even our models were treated to slippers and dressing gowns as they got ready.
I adore the space at No.11 Cadogan Gardens. Each suite has it’s own unique decor.
It offers luxury without the pretence, customer service is second-to-none and the hotel brilliantly blends modern with traditional design. Perfectly encapsulated in it’s Victorian setting, which in the 19th century used to be home to aristocrats!
Of course we had our models wearing some of designer Ian Stuart’s latest creations from his brand new 2016 Runway Rebel Collection, fresh off of the catwalk. Experimenting with soft pinks and to silver and ivory, the dresses worked so beautifully against each of our models skin tones. I have to say, every single model was in awe wearing one of these dresses, it was a privilege to witness their ‘wow’ moments while I was dressing them! Ian Stuart will do it to you every time ladies!
The lovely Joyce Connor of Brides and Beauty and her assistant Mako were working their magic on make up, accentuating their natural beauty and providing a beautiful unique look by taking into consideration their overall styling.
On hair, The Errol Douglas team were out in full force! Led by the very lovely and equally talented Head of Bridal; Anna Baker. Each model had their very own hair specialist to create their bridal look, from sophisticated to timeless to elegant to dramatic.
We had Anna Head of Bridal on European hair, styling our model Marina. Karis, International hair specialist and Creative Stylist, working hair magic on Cerian. Wayne Senior Afro Technician working with Paige and Head of Afro: Eve, working with a natural hair style for Natasha and Anika also assisting. Such a pleasure to work this this happy smiley team on this shoot.
Elizabeth Solaru’s cakes were once again a real hit with everyone, they were a real showstopper with hotel staff and guests who got a sneaky peek! They were displayed beautifully in the Mirror Room and set off against this beautiful silver textured Chilewhich runner from Amara which I love and in-fact, was the inspiration behind the chosen colour scheme.
Beautiful fresh and delicate white and green floral accents, from our gorgeous Ambassador Liz at Blue Sky Flowers – we purposely wanted to keep the florals simple and classic. Proving once again, you can create such elegance with simplicity, focusing on the bridal beauty.
We added a touch of sparkle to really lift our table-scape featuring a luxury silver sequinned linen from Glimmer and Threads and set off against our beautiful white Blanc Sur Blanc Vera Wang plates with a delicate silver trim, to complement our overall theme.
With a luscious dose of modern designer shoe beauties, from Charlotte Mills Bridal, along with delicate hair accessories and jewellery from the brilliant Flo & Percy to truly finish off each bridal beauty look.
I will let John Nassari’s incredible images tell the story far more eloquently than I can put into words. They encapsulate the essence of the day, the hard work, the laughter, the support, the camaraderie and the beauty of our gorgeous models and venue.
Look 1: Marina – Classic, timeless with a sexy twist – wearing ‘Raphaella’ and ‘Jolie’
Look 2: Natasha – Classic Fairytale Princess with a dramatic twist – Wearing ‘Sweet Madness’
Look 3: Cerian – Natural effortless beauty. Short and sweet – Wearing Sophia
