Chic & Glamorous Moor Park Mansion Wedding | Victoria Mitchell Photography

Meet the incredibly gorgeous James and Jay.
After a surprise marriage proposal over a spot of afternoon tea at The Ritz; Maggie Sottero bride Jay and Reiss Groom, James had a stylish, music band inspired wedding at the beautifully ornate Moor Park Mansion, on the 13th September 2014
James of Malay & English heritage and Jay of Indian heritage, enjoyed a fashion forward, music themed, modern wedding. James and Jay wanted to celebrate their friends, family and their children, by having a fun and heartfelt wedding not shackled down by too many traditions.
This super chic wedding featuring not one but two pink dresses, is captured by the brilliant Victoria Mitchell Photography and is a testament to James and Jay for doing their wedding ‘their way’. Bravo!
Coming Together
We both love music and our friends, so we chose a theme centred around bands and groups for a mini festival.
Each table had names we thought were relevant for the groups we had sitting on them!
We wanted everyone to be relaxed and well fed, so the menu in itself was well thought out to consider our guests.
To honour both cultures, we split our day in half. We had an English civil ceremony, with an Indian infused reception. It was an excellent mix of the two cultures whilst keeping everything simple.
We chose English cuisine to cater to all tastes, we felt having a Chinese or Indian meal may have been difficult to please everyone. Our wedding breakfast included honey glazed roasted duck and a Mango cheesecake. With a hog roast buffet in the evening.
We decided not to go with a themed day in terms of our cultures, as neither of us are hugely traditional, so we decided to go for what we liked, rather than keep to strict themes. So for us, music and fun was a big thing!
The Ceremony
Our children were a big part of our wedding, so we didn’t want to have a ‘no child rule’ and even let them get involved as they were there before we married and so it only completed the day if they were there during.
We didn’t worry if they would cry or come in between the ceremony and I think that’s the magic behind it all really!
The Reception
The best part of the day was the reception and really getting to meet everyone and talk to them. The music was a brilliant mix of Indian and English with all kinds of our favourite music from rock to dance!
This made it much easier as we had such a mixed group of guests from various different cultural backgrounds.
The best mans speech talking about the most embarrassing moments James had when he was growing up was hilarious. The room was filled with school and childhood friends, so it was quite touching and very funny at the same time.
Top Wedding Tips
Just go for what you both want and when you’re happy stop looking. Too much inspiration can be difficult and overwhelming.
It’s about your perfect day not the perfect day for everyone else.
And what a perfect note to end on! Congratulations gorgeous Jay and James and thank you for sharing your chic glamorous wedding with Nu Bride.
