As Filmakers, we are always inspired and captivated by unique settings and it was very easy to be inspired by the tranquility and beauty of Il Borro
I LOVE it when suppliers find stunning wedding inspiration in the allure of Europe. Especially beautiful Italy.
This refreshing wedding editorial, exudes the most incredible views of the breathtaking village of Il Borro Tuscany. Tuscany is often described as the heart of Italy and this shoot beautifully features everything an Italian countryside has to offer, including olive groves, iridescent pastel houses, authentic vineyards and so much more.
Il Borro is a sumptuous hotel and grand villa described as a medieval cultural experience, boasting over 1700 acres of land with history that dates back to 1000 years. It is owned, nurtured and restored by the family of elite shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo, creating the most incredible backdrop for an exclusive, beautiful wedding.
The shoot also features a video captured by Urban Cinematography with an exclusive interview with Salvatore Ferragamo, Grandson of the famous and stylish Italian shoe designer and courtier to Hollywood stars. Salvatore Ferragamo gives a stunning behind the scenes insight into the history and the beauty that is Il Borro.
This elegant Italian inspired shoot was put together by film makers Urban Cinematography, Seyi Olusanya of Once Upon a Destination, award-winning photographer Nikos Gogas, with delicate and luxury sweet treats provided by Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium, elegant chic dresses from Nu Bride favourite Kosibah, and delectable groomswear by Indivisual Fashion.
Everything about this shoot is absolutely exquisite – a romantic Italian wedding dream.
Urban Cinematography go on to say:
We fell in love with the landscape and the village. Salvatore Ferragamo told us in 1993, he bought not just the semi-derelict medieval hamlet, also the neighbouring grand villa that had been half-destroyed during the Second World War, along with 1,730 acres of estate. In the past decade he has spent much of his life restoring it, and last year he opened the entire property as a Relais & Chateaux hotel Group.
Il Borro is unlike any other hotel, for ultimate peace and tranquility, its rooms are spread throughout the estate.
The other 25 suites are housed in the medieval village on top of a hill, which is linked to the estate by a stone bridge. Walls have been rebuilt in stone and fine brick; floors laid in oak and terracotta; ceilings created using enormous beams; windows shaded by wooden shutters.
There are even eight shops housing artisans; from a shoemaker to a jeweller and a church, presided over by the same priest since 1941, who is now busier than ever, conducting weddings.
While the village’s exteriors look authentically medieval, Ferragamo has gutted the interiors to provide the sort of 21st-century luxuries that visitors expect of a high-end property. As well as handsome Italian antique furnishings, rooms have air-conditioning, mini-kitchens with espresso-makers and fridges, and mosaic-walled bathrooms with standalone baths and Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries.
We really enjoyed working on this shoot, working alongside the super talented Greek Photographer Nikos Gogas whose images reflect Il Borro’s wonderful Tuscan spirit. Nikos is an award-winning Photographer who immerses himself into his surroundings, to create beautiful images.
The shoot was a last-minute decision, which made it even more exciting to produce. It was organised by Seyi Olusanya of Once upon a Destination who worked so hard to make sure all the important details were taken care of. The beautiful cakes were transported all the way from London by the Cake Queen; Elizabeth Solaru of Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium.
Normally a shoot like this would take a team a few weeks to organise and put together, but it just goes to show with hard work and a bit of magic, anything is possible.
