A sunny evening on the regal boundaries of London Victoria and St James’ Park, I was invited to attend the launch of Ian Stuart Blewcoat.
Blewcoat is the new home to International and award-winning, show-stopping bridal designer; Ian Stuarts’ brand new, luxury London boutique . (Phew! That was a mouthful – but a well deserved intro!)
Ian Stuart is a bit of a ‘celebrity’ in the wedding industry. A well known and well respected designer, not shy of taking risks with his theatrical, classic and colourful designs and is passionate about making women of all ages look and feel fabulous.
When Ian first told me about Blewcoat a few months prior, his excitement for his new ‘baby’ and the delicate history behind Blewcoat was both fascinating and perfect for Ian’s eclectic and considered designs.
Set in a Grade 1 listed National Trust building; built-in the 16th century, Blewcoat is absolutely steeped in history.
In addition to surviving World War II, Blewcoat used to be an orphanage. It is now home to the couture, bespoke and exclusive range of Ian Stuart luxury bridal, evening wear and high-end mother of the bride fashion.
There is something about the new foundation for family – new beginnings and ‘happily ever after’ that is both bitter-sweet and beautiful with the history of Blewcoat in mind.
As I arrived, nervous as usual, I was instantly greeted with a warm smile from Ian, making me feel truly welcome.
I walked up a grand staircase that lead to the entrance of the boutique, accented by incredible blue hydrangeas arranged with precision by Jens Jakobsen Floral Construction, not to mention the high ceilings and regal chandeliers. Grand.
Blewcoat was bursting at the seams with the wedding industries finest. From the legendary bridal designer; Ritva Westenius with her husband and talented daughter Chenca (who now designs solely for the brand), the Editors and Queens of wedding media from Brides and Wedding Magazine, to elite wedding planners and event designers such as Weddings by Bruce, to name but a mere a few.
A few snaps from my iphone of these beautiful dresses.
How gorgeous does Sian (L) from the Ian Stuart team look in her foral Ian Stuart dress!
It’s great to see members of the wedding community come together, to celebrate each others successes and new beginnings.
Blewcoat is an incredible venue. It is like no other wedding boutique I have seen in the UK. It is different, it is beautiful, it is grand – just like Ian’s designs.
Blewcoat is aimed at the luxury market with exquisite wedding dresses exclusive to Blewcoat starting from £3000
If you would like to visit, I am sure the team at Blewcoat will be delighted to meet you and help you find your perfect luxury dress.
