I wanted to start 2014 off with glamour and a gorgeous injection of love.
Now, apparently pink is back as a wedding ‘trend’ for 2014 (I keep telling people pink never left!) So thought it would be perfect timing to share this stunning wedding of Olamide and Olatunji, planned by elite wedding planner and the very gorgeous Nicole of Perfect Events.
The photographer Jide Alakija captures the essence of this wedding so beautifully! Just by looking at the images, I love that I can ‘feel’ like I was part of the couples day.
Olamide and Olatunji’s wedding took place at Saffron Walden Baptist Church followed by the reception at 17th century mansion the quintessential Quendon Hall, set over 100 acres of land. Olatunji and Olamide had an astounding 400 guests! And no doubt Nicole took it all in her stride!
Read on to find out more from Nicole at Perfect Events about how she planned their special day!
The couple: Bride – Olamide and Groom – Olatunji
Wedding colours: Champagne gold and Fuchsia
Where: Saffron Walden Baptist Church and Quendon Hall
Theme: Elegant, Stylish and Classy
Entertainment: Saxophonist during the drinks reception and wedding breakfast, DJ for the evening and Nigerian Band, Feyisara.
Food: Nigerian cuisine
Nu Bride LOVES!: Olamide’s fuchsia pink shoes and TWO dresses! The stunning champagne flutes and the guests wearing traditional Aso Ebi (Traditional African clothing) – carefully incorporating the wedding colours!
Olamide and Olatunji’s brief was that they wanted a classy, elegant, stylish well executed wedding incorporating their Nigerian culture to be attended by 400 guests. We provided both wedding planning and design for the couple. They wanted their wedding to feel and look amazing and be a breathtaking experience for both them and their guests.
The couple booked Parklands Quendon Hall, a 17th century mansion, set in over 100 acres of picturesque deer park on an exclusive dry hire basis to hold their wedding reception, as it gave them the flexibility to use external caterers who specialise in African cuisine.
The Church décor was stylish but simple, we used a bespoke personalised aisle runner and large pedestal floral displays placed either side of the altar.
The reception was decorated using gold chandeliers, a mix of tall and low fresh floral table centrepieces featuring ivory, accented with a few fuchsia coloured blooms. Gold table runners were draped over soft white table linen, gold charger plates and chiavari chairs completed the decor.
Their wedding stationery included menu cards, order of service and a table plan, which were all designed in-house by Perfect Events print and design team who combine elegant design with high quality materials.
The couple being food connoisseurs, frequently dinning at the finest restaurants in London, aptly named the guest tables after their favourite restaurants they have dined at – romance is truly the food of love!
The wedding cake, created by leading luxury cake designer Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium was inspired by a lace applique design. The cake table décor was completed with tulle skirting, rose petals and ‘His and Her’ champagne flutes, cake knife and trowel engraved with the couples’ names, wedding date and a sweet message ‘served with love’ a wedding gift to the beautiful couple from the grooms parents.
The way a wedding looks and feels is extremely important, along with the entertainment. Another crucial element is the food and drink menus, both are great ways for couples to reflect their personalities and individual taste.
Olamide and Olatunji opted for canapés and cocktails served during the drinks reception, with Nigerian cuisine served for the wedding breakfast. This was followed by more cocktails, an extensive bar menu including the finest wines and champagne, with a fabulous array of desserts.
During the wedding breakfast, pink up-lighting was used to accentuate the Grecian style backdrop and its full length hanging crystals to add a touch of sparkle.
The lighting used in the evening transformed the marquee into a magical disco wonderland, with an impressive lighting show and a beautifully stunning ceiling fairy light canopy, created an impressive backdrop for the couple’s first dance – ‘Only You’ by the Platters. (Nu Bride: Great choice! )
Round of applause Nicole – What a beautiful wedding! I think you deserve an Oscar for coordinating 400 guests! A Big thank you to Olamide and Olatunji for sharing their magic with us!
